About Florida Court File

Our Mission

Florida Court File makes criminal court outcome data accessible to everyone. We believe that defendants, their families, and their attorneys deserve to know what actually happens in Florida courts — not just what the law says could happen.

The Data

Our statistics come from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Data Transparency initiative. We analyze 1,690,714+ case records across 66 counties and 20 judicial circuits, covering dispositions from 2023-2025.

How We Process the Data

  1. Acquisition: We download FDLE CJDT Clerk Case data, which is published pursuant to FL Statute 900.05.
  2. Normalization: Raw FCIC charge codes are mapped to 36 standardized charge categories for cross-county comparison.
  3. Outcome Mapping: Dispositions are categorized into six outcomes: Guilty, Adjudication Withheld, Pre-Trial Diversion, Dismissed, Acquitted, and Other.
  4. Aggregation: Per-charge-per-county statistics are computed, including outcome rates, sentencing averages, and counsel splits.
  5. Validation: Automated checks ensure data quality. Pages with fewer than 10 cases are excluded from search engine indexing.
